A paragraph from a book that i am re-reading...
"Jane does everything to the max. Including sex. And before you leap in to proclaim me a sexist bastard, those are her words, not mine. She takes enormous pleasure in detailing her sexual adventures, sometimes with people i know, often with people i don't. Only last week she was telling me (with great enthusiasm) about what she'd done (with great enthusiasm) when she and a guy on her table at an awards lunch had got bored and checked into the Dorchester.
Jane makes it perfectly plain that the offer's there. She's made it plain to me, to Tim, to James, who works with us, as indeed does James's girlfriend Lucy, which explains the wary eye whenever Jane's out with usmm and not only has she made it plain, she gives us constant reminders. Standard Jane gretting: 'Hello grogeous,' followed by a huge kiss, always on the mouth, never on the cheek. I have often tried, for a challenge, to get Jane to plant her kiss on my cheek, but her mouth always tracks mine like a satellite that can only re-enter the earth's atmosphere at its alloted point."
